Genesis of Growth: Okel Sees School Open Secondary Section

By Darasa Reporter
Genesis Silphen Academy has grown to open a secondary section. The academy which was started in 2002 under the stewardship of the outspoken headmaster Stephen Okel has been the template of academic excellence in Kariadudu slum in Nairobi. The school has produced some of the best brains in the slum.
Genesis Secondary School began its maiden students intake in January after the release of the KCPE results and the headmaster says it has so far been a success. With a school fees of Ksh.1,500 per term, Mr. Okel says Genesis Secondary School comes as an answer to the deep rooted challenges faced by slum children in pursuing secondary education.
